Development of a novel method for monitoring the antioxidative effect of ascorbic acid in rat blood

► A semi-micro flow injection analysis-chemiluminescence detection hyphenated with microdialysis method was established. ► This method can evaluate in vivo antioxidative effect of ascorbic acid (ASA) after its administration. ► The antioxidative effect in dialysate was identified to be ASA by diminishing its effect with ascorbic acid oxidase. ► ASA concentration in dialysate indicates a good correlation with the antioxidative effect.
