Application of acetylacetone chelation solid-phase extraction to GFAAS measurements of trace amounts of beryllium in livers and muscles of poultry and livestock

► Trace amounts of beryllium in liver and muscle samples can be accurately measured. ► Microwave digestion, solid-phase extraction, and standard addition method were used. ► The linear range for beryllium was from 0.18 (MDL, 3σ) to 27 ng g−1. ► Good spiked recoveries (96.0-103.0%) were obtained for eight samples with an RSD ≦ 3%.
