Optimised off-line SPE-GC-FID method for the determination of mineral oil saturated hydrocarbons (MOSH) in vegetable oils

► A SPE-GC-FID method for MOSH determination in vegetable oils has been optimised. ► Of the three different SPE silica sorbents tested, silver silica gave the best results. ► Silver silica allows to retain interfering olefins without a derivatisation step. ► Activated aluminium oxide is an optional tool to eliminate endogenous n-alkane. ► The proposed method presents good performance characteristics.
