Proteomic profiling of the substantia nigra demonstrates CNDP2 overexpression in Parkinson's disease

► We compared human substantia nigra proteomes from PD and controls patients by 2-DE. ► We revealed a set of deregulated proteins in PD. ► CNDP2 was overexpressed in the SN of PD patients and observed in DA neuron cytoplasms. ► CNDP2 may be a new key player in PD pathogenesis.
