Quantitative evaluation of solid oxide fuel cell porous anode microstructure based on focused ion beam and scanning electron microscope technique and prediction of anode overpotentials

▶ 3D microstructure of SOFC porous anode is directly observed by FIB-SEM. ▶ Microstructural parameters characterizing the porous structure are quantified. ▶ Random walk diffusion simulation is effectively used to quantify tortuosity factor. ▶ 1D simulation using the parameters successfully predicts anode performance.
