Evaluating chemical degradation of proton conducting perfluorosulfonic acid ionomers in a Fenton test by solid-state 19F NMR spectroscopy

▶ Perfluorinated polymeric fuel cell membrane were subjected to the Fenton test. ▶ Solid-state NMR demonstrates side chain degradation. ▶ Side chain degradation in Hyflon Ion is less pronounced than in Nafion.
