Formation of a non-classical “η2-H2-Ag” hydride in zeolitic materials

► In Ag exchanged zeolites, Ag+ cations may be the catalytically active species. ► Such species may form η2 hydrides and activate the H-H bond. ► Similar results are predicted for the corresponding gas phase species. ► Our results agree very well with inelastic neutron scattering experiments.
