Understanding the formation of metal-oxide based inorganic solids: Assessing the influence of tetrazole molecule

► This article has described some important roles of an organic molecule in the formation of metal oxide based inoragnic solids. ► The synthesis invovles hydrothermal reaction of Cu(II) salt, ammonium heptamolybdate, and 4-ptz (5-(4-pyridyl) tetrazole). ► Variations in synthetic conditions yield two different compounds in terms of their solid state structures. ► The formation of zwitter ion of the organic molecule is the key point.
