Syntheses and structures of cobalt(III) alcoholate complexes formed by addition of a water molecule across 2-pyridyl substituted imine function

► 2-Pyridyl substituted imine function reacted readily with Co(II) ion. ► In this reaction, one water molecule adds onto the imine group and Co(II) has been oxidized to Co(III). ► The resultant alcohol binds as alcoholate ion. ► The molecular structures of cobalt(III) alcoholate complexes were confirmed by X-ray diffraction method.
