Co(II) complexes with tripodal N-donor ligands: Thermodynamics of formation in anaerobic conditions and oxygen binding

► The stability of Co(II) complexes with tripodal polyamines is generally lower than those with polyamines in DMSO. ► Differently from similar polyamines, the formation of polypiridine complexes in DMSO is less thermodynamically favored than in water. ► Kinetics of the reaction of the Co(TREN)2+ complex with oxygen show a minor dependence on the solvent in comparison to other Co(II)/polyamine complexes.
