Synthesis, characterization and X-ray structure of several aryloxide and alkoxide derivatives of [Et4N][Re2(CO)6(OR)3] (RÂ =Â H or Me)

We report on the ligand exchange reaction of [Et4N][Re2(CO)6(OR)3] with substituted aryl alcohols and with ethylene glycol. Complete exchange is fast with the alkyl alcohol but for the aryl alcohols exchange is facile only for two substitutions, the third substitution can be forced by raising the reaction temperature. X-ray crystal determinations were carried out for several of the derivatives.
