Synthesis, structure and polymerization behavior of tri- and dichloroaminopyridinato complexes of titanium

Three coordination complexes, (TiApCl3)2 (Ap = 2-phenylaminopyridinato) (1), TiAp2Cl2 (2) and TiApCl2(THF)2 (3), were prepared and characterized with X-ray, NMR and MS. The ethylene polymerization activities, the molecular weight distributions and the melting points for the prepared catalysts are compared with the corresponding TiCl4 - methylaluminoxane (MAO) system.
