Manganese (III) cyclam complexes with aqua, iodo, nitrito, perchlorato and acetic acid/acetato axial ligands

The complex cation [Mn(cyclam)(OH2)2]3+ has been synthesised (cyclam = 1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane) and is shown to be an excellent starting material for the synthesis of manganese (III) complexes where the water molecules have been substituted. Four additional complexes containing the ligands ONO−, OClO3−, CH3COO−/CH3COOH and surprisingly I− have been synthesised and characterised.
