Synthesis, crystal structure, magnetic and redox properties of copper(II) complexes of N-alkyl(aryl) tBu-salicylaldimines

► Copper(II) complexes of salicylaldimines were synthesized as bioinorganic models. ► Complexes have a similar mononuclear square planar geometry. ► Copper complexes display paramagnetic properties. ► Electrochemical oxidation of complexes yielded Cu(II)-phenoxyl radical species.
