Syntheses, crystal structures and antimicrobial activities of thioether ligands containing quinoline and pyridine terminal groups and their transition metal complexes

► Four thioether ligands containing pyridine and quinoline groups were synthesized. ► Transition metal complexes with various kinds of coordination modes were assembled. ► The ligands and complexes show efficient biological activities.
