Organometallic emitting dyes: Palladium(II) nile red complexes

The Nile Red dye, H(RN), forms red-emitting cyclometalated R2-disubstituted-acetylacetonato Pd(II) complexes (1-3; R = CH3, CF3, C6H5 respectively); their photophysical properties were tested in various solvents. In particular, complex 2 in cyclohexane solution shows red emission with Φ = 0.50.
