Complexes derived from hydrolytically 'unstable' hydrazone ligands - Some unexpected products

Solvolytically unstable hydrazone ligands produce unexpected products when reacted with certain transition metal ions in solvents containing water, which often are only revealed from X-ray crystallographic studies. Several examples are highlighted, and their structural and magnetic properties are examined.
