3,5-Bis(benzylidene)-4-piperidones and related N-acyl analogs: A novel cluster of antimalarials targeting the liver stage of Plasmodium falciparum

Series 1-5 are a novel cluster of antimalarials. The promising features of these compounds are (1) the novelty of the structures, (2) effective against drug resistant strains of Plasmodium falciparum, (3) target the liver stage of Plasmodium berghei, and (4) substantially less toxic to HepG2 cells.
