Synthesis of [11C]dehydropravastatin, a PET probe potentially useful for studying OATP1B1 and MRP2 transporters in the liver

The synthesis of [11C]2′,3′-dehydropravastatin has been accomplished by the rapid cross-coupling (C-[11C]methylation reaction) between sp2(vinyl)-sp3 carbons using [11C]methyl iodide and an organoboron precursor in the 11C-labeling step, and subsequent deprotection and hydrolysis.
