Synthesis of novel celecoxib analogues by bioisosteric replacement of sulfonamide as potent anti-inflammatory agents and cyclooxygenase inhibitors

Celecoxib analogues having 1,5-diaryl relationship were synthesized by exploring bioisosteric modifications and screened for their in vivo anti-inflammatory (AI) activity as well as in vitro cyclooxygenase (COX) inhibition assays. Some of the analogues have shown excellent anti-inflammatory activity as well as COX-2 selectivity.
