Extraction of polysaccharides from a species of Chlorella

► Water-soluble polysaccharides were isolated in a yield of ca. 25%. ► Treatment with a mild oxidant was required. ► Extracts contained complex mixtures of polysaccharides and/or polysaccharides of complex structure.
