Characterization of fungal sulfated polysaccharides and their synergistic anticancer effects with doxorubicin

► Sulfated polysaccharides (SPS) of Antrodia cinnamomea and Poria cocos were isolated. ► The degree of sulfation paralleled their antiangiogenic activity. ► SPSs exhibited synergistic activity with doxorubicin (DOX) against cancer cell lines. ► SPSs increased sensitivity of DOX offers applications of combinational-therapy drugs.
