EPR investigation of Cu(II)-complexes with nitrogen derivatives of dialdehyde starch

► Synthesis of nitrogen derivatives of dialdehyde starch. ► Copper complexes with dithiosemicarbazone (DTSC), disemicarbazone (DSC), dihydrazone (DHZ) and dioxime (DOX). ► Characterization by Raman, EPR spectra and the measurements of magnetic susceptibility. ► Two types of complexes with different surroundings of copper centres for each starch derivative. ► Nitrogen atoms of the CN moiety, sulphur atoms of the CS moiety and oxygen atoms as the coordination sites.
