Development and evaluation of tamarind seed xyloglucan-based mucoadhesive buccal films of rizatriptan benzoate

► Buccal films were developed using tamarind seed xyloglucan as novel polysaccharide polymer. ► Bilayer films were prepared by 32 factorial design for buccal delivery of rizatriptan benzoate. ► Tamarind seed xyloglucan could be a promising vehicle for the buccal drug delivery system.
