Cyclodextrin nanosponges as novel green flame retardants for PP, LLDPE and PA6

► Novel green flame retardants based on a complex of cyclodextrin nanosponges have been synthetized. ► The structure of the synthesized nanosponges turned out to play a key role in the flame retardancy. ► Nanosponges significantly contribute to char formation of PP, LLDPE and PA6. ► In air the thermal stability of PP, LLDPE and PA6 was strongly influenced by such flame retardants.
