Stress relaxation of wood partially non-crystallized using aqueous NaOH solutions

► We examined the relaxation behavior of wood non-crystallized with NaOH solution. ► The relaxation modulus and its relaxation rate closely related to the crystallinity change. ► The latter was remarkably influenced in the longer time region. ► We found a evidence that non-crystallized regions form along the microfibril longitudinal axis.
