Cross-linked hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin and γ-cyclodextrin nanogels for drug delivery: Physicochemical and loading/release properties

► A novel synthetic method was applied to synthesize cyclodextrin-containing nanogels. ► It consisted of simultaneous cross-linking and emulsification/solvent evaporation. ► The nanogels contained γCD or HPβCD, a cross-linking agent, with or without polymer. ► The nanogel size (10-400 nm) could be controlled by the reaction conditions. ► Drug loading and the drug release profiles were determined.
