Synthesis of β-(1→6)-linked N-acetyl-d-glucosamine oligosaccharide substrates and their hydrolysis by Dispersin B

► β-(1→6)-Linked N-acetyl-d-glucosamine thiophenyl glycosides with DP of 2, 3, 4 and 5 were synthesized. ► Synthesized oligomers were applied to study the substrate specificity of Dispersin B enzyme. ► The presence of multiple subsites was confirmed. ► At least four GlcNAc binding sites for active centre of DspB was suggested.
