Evaluation of cross-linked chitosan microparticles containing metronidazole for periodontitis treatment

► Metronidazole-loaded chitosan microparticles were obtained by emulsion cross-linking. ► They were prepared as hydrogel and film for periodontitis treatment. ► The hydrogel was possible to be further clinically investigated.
