Influence of fuels and combustion aids on solution combustion synthesis of bi-phasic calcium phosphates (BCP)

► Type and quantity of fuel significantly influence on the phase composition and microstructure. ► Ca-poor compounds form as a result of combustion of fuel-rich systems. ► Mainly α-TCP was produced using glycine as a fuel, while β-TCP phase was possible to obtain using urea. ► The ratio HA/TCP and, therefore the reactivity of powders, can be controlled during the synthesis.
