Ion irradiation induced formation of close packed particles in β Cu-Zn-Al

The (0 0 1) surface of single crystals of β phase Cu-Zn-Al was irradiated with 170 keV Cu ions at room temperature. Particles with a close packed structure were formed on the irradiated surface. Their morphology, structure and composition are analyzed in this work.
