Evaluation of initial corrosion location in E316L austenitic stainless steel weld metals

The initiation of corrosion attack in E316L austenitic stainless steel weld metal occurs preferentially in the overlapped heat affected zone (HAZ), especially along the fusion line for fissure-free samples, and at the tips of microfissures for fissure-containing samples.
