Microstructure and properties of plasma-sprayed bio-coatings on a low-modulus titanium alloy from milled HA/Ti powders

► New composite coatings were fabricated by plasma spraying from milled HA/Ti composite powders. ► The microstructure and properties of the coatings were dependent on the original HA/Ti ratios. ► The micro-hardness, elastic modulus and bond strength increased with increasing the Ti content. ► The in vitro bioactivity decreased with increasing the Ti content.
