Microstructural, mechanical and tribological properties of tungsten-gradually doped diamond-like carbon films with functionally graded interlayers

► W-gradually doped diamond-like carbon films with functionally graded interlayer were prepared. ► Much improved adhesion between the films and substrates were obtained. ► Much improved wear resistance was obtained.
