Thin films of layered double hydroxide and silver-doped polystyrene particles

► Monodisperse, silver decorated latex particles (55 nm and 560 nm) were prepared. ► Thin layers were prepared with Ag0/PS particles and LDH by LbL deposition. ► PS spheres of 560 nm diameter resulted in rougher films than for 55 nm particles. ► The LDH|Ag0/PS560 films are mainly composed of LDH lamellae and free silver NPs. ► The film thicknesses are in the 200-950 nm range determined by optical method.
