Structural and optical properties of a new chalcone single crystal

► New chalcone derivative has been synthesized and single crystals are grown. ► SHG efficiency of the compound is 3.15 times to that of urea. ► Functional groups influence the material's SHG efficiency. ► The crystals are transparent in the visible region and thermally stable.
