A hybrid technology has been developed to control aromatic volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emission by annexing the catalyst technique with already existing electron beam (EB) technology. There is an increase in the removal efficiency and CO2 conversion rate as well as a decrease in by-product formation yield. When compared to EB-ceramic hybrid under the same existing EB-catalyst conditions, EB-catalyst hybrid has shown a 10% increase in efficiency in toluene treatment at approximately 10Â kGy. In the comparison study on the independent effect of EB-catalyst and catalyst itself, the removal efficiency with EB-catalyst revealed a 10% improvement in toluene treatment and an increase of 20% in styrene treatment. In addition, CO2 conversion rate also improved because there was a 55% increase in the generation of CO2 as well as a significant decrease in the by-products formation yield. Therefore, it is concluded that this technology will have a great effect on treating VOCs and odors.
