Tightly-bound ubiquinone in the Escherichia coli respiratory Complex I

► Purified Complex I from E. coli contains bound ubiquinone. ► The fast events upon Complex reduction were followed optically. ► The results indicate fast redox transition of the bound ubiquinone. ► Midpoint redox potential of the bound ubiquinone is lower than -200 mV.
