Chemical polysialylation: Design of conjugated human oxyntomodulin with a prolonged anorexic effect in vivo

► A new conjugate of the oxyntomodulin and polysialic acid was synthesized. ► Pure conjugate was obtained by the two-stage chromatography purification. ► Polysialic acid was attached to the oxyntomodulin at the N-terminus. ► Conjugate was assayed as an appetite inhibitor on lean fasted mice model. ► An anorexic effect, lasting for 8 h, was detected at a 15 μmol/kg dose.
