PDGF-BB induces PRMT1 expression through ERK1/2 dependent STAT1 activation and regulates remodeling in primary human lung fibroblasts

In human lung fibroblasts, PDGF-BB stimulation activates ERK1/2 MAPK signaling, which induces the phosphorylation of STAT1. P-STAT1 is essential for PRMT1 upregulation which orchestrates fibroblast proliferation and ECM production. Therefore, PRMT1 may play a crucial role in fibrotic processes and presents a novel therapeutic target in chronic inflammatory pulmonary diseases.165
