Fractal scaling of laser Doppler flowmetry time series in patients with essential hypertension

► Fractal analysis introduces 3 new parameters to evaluate skin blood flow regulation. ► Their values can be used to identify the impairment in the involved mechanisms. ► We found different values in essential hypertensive (EHT) patients compared with control. ► Our results suggest that the local and the cushioning peripheral vascular functions are impaired in EHT patients.
