Do mitochondria contribute to left ventricular non-compaction cardiomyopathy? New findings from myocardium of patients with left ventricular non-compaction cardiomyopathy

► Myocardium mtDNA of six LVNC patients were sequenced. ► The mtDNA copy number in myocardium of LVNC patients were measured. ► MtDNA variants may associate with LVNC, but they are not the primary causes. ► Abnormal copy number state was found from the left ventricle myocardium of patients. ► Mitochondria aggregation and morphological abnormality were observed by TEM.
