A volumetric study of basal ganglia structures in individuals with early-treated phenylketonuria

► Volumetric morphometry of basal ganglia in early-treated PKU was examined using MRI. ► Consistent with past research, whole brain volume was decreased in the PKU group. ► Putamen volume was found to be significantly enlarged in the PKU group. ► Putamen volume was correlated with blood phe levels and IQ in the PKU group.
