Acetoacetyl-CoA synthetase, a ketone body-utilizing enzyme, is controlled by SREBP-2 and affects serum cholesterol levels

► AACS mRNA levels are increased in the mice that were fed hypocholesterolemic agents. ► SREBP-2 interacts with the promoter region of AACS gene. ► Knockdown of SREBP-2 reduces mRNA levels of AACS. ► Knockdown of AACS results in a decrease in total serum cholesterol.
