Neuropeptide Y (NPY) in the central nucleus of the amygdala (CeA) does not affect ethanol-reinforced responding in binge-drinking, nondependent rats

► At baseline, the paradigm yielded EtOH intake in the pharmacologically relevant range (~ 90 mg%). ► CeA NPY did not affect ethanol-reinforced behavior, despite its role in ethanol-dependent rats. ► Binge-like ethanol consumption is not sufficient to recruit CeA NPY regulation of seeking/intake.
