Minimal structural requirements of alkyl γ-lactones capable of antagonizing the cocaine-induced motility decrease in planarians

► γ-lactones were tested for their ability to decrease cocaine effects in planarians. ► Compounds with up to a 4-carbon alkyl chain did not antagonize cocaine. ► Only γ-nonalactone, not larger compounds, was able to antagonize cocaine.
