Modulatory effects of low-dose MDMA on cocaine-induced locomotor activity and place conditioning in rats

► Polysubstance abuse is common among recreational MDMA users. ► Few preclinical studies have examined the abuse liability of drug combinations. ► This study examined the combined acute effects of MDMA and cocaine on CPP in rats. ► Low MDMA doses failed to establish conditioned place preference. ► MDMA modestly enhanced the place conditioning effects of cocaine.
