Improvement in long term and visuo-spatial memory following chronic pioglitazone in mouse model of Alzheimer's disease

► Pioglitazone (Pio) 20 and 40 mg/kg, was administered daily for three weeks in mice. ► Cognitive functions were assessed in passive avoidance and water maze tasks. ► Pio prevented scopolamine-induced cognitive-deficits in a dose-dependent manner. ► It also prevented scopolamine-induced changes in brain oxidative-stress markers.
