Attenuation of apomorphine-induced sensitization by buspirone

► Buspirone coadministration at the dose of 1.0 mg/kg could attenuate apomorphine-induced motor sensitization. ► An increase in the inhibitory serotonergic influence on dopaminergic neurons may be the mechanisms by which buspirone could attenuate apomorphine-induced motor sensitization. ► Increase in the sensitivity of somatodendritic 5-HT1A receptors may have an important role in apomorphine-induced sensitization. ► Findings may have important consequences in the use of apomorphine for the treatment of Parkinson's disease.
