Make hay when the sun shines: The role of MADS-box genes in temperature-dependant seasonal flowering responses

▶ We review roles of MADS-box genes in temperature dependent flowering responses. ▶ Roles for MADS-box genes in vernalization-induced flowering are used as examples. ▶ A potential role for SVP-like genes in winter bud dormancy is examined. ▶ Regulation of MADS-box genes by elevated temperature is also reviewed. ▶ We conclude MADS-box genes regulate many temperature dependent flowering responses.
